Dress Code & Policy

Dress Code

Reasonable care and neatness in regard to dress and appearance is required for all students. The acceptability of the personal appearance of all students will remain at the discretion of the school. Pre–Kindergarten - 1 & 2 and Kindergarten: Gym uniform (see below) Girls' Grades 1-4 - Formal Uniform: Burgundy, plaid, rounded jumper, white blouse, plaid cross tie; burgundy/maroon or gray knee highs or tights with optional school uniform sweater or sweater vest (burgundy, gray, or navy blue). NO polo shirts, hoodies, sweatshirts. NO colored shirts, colored tank tops, colored bras, or long-sleeved shirts may be worn under blouses. LCA Spirit Wear sweatshirts may be worn to school, but may NOT be worn during class time. **Between November 1 and April 1, girls in grades 1-8 are allowed to wear black or navy blue uniform slacks with a belt instead of the jumper or skirt. Girls' Grades 5-8 - Formal Uniform: Plaid burgundy skirt, white blouse, long plaid burgundy tie; burgundy/maroon or gray knee highs or tights with optional school uniform sweater or sweater vest (burgundy, gray, or navy blue). NO polo shirts, hoodies, sweatshirts. NO colored shirts, colored tank tops, colored bras, or long-sleeved shirts may be worn under blouses. Boys may NOT wear athletic socks with their formal uniform. Socks must be blue or black. NO polo shirts, hoodies, sweatshirts. NO colored shirts, colored tank tops, or long-sleeved shirts may be worn under shirts. Solid white under shirts are permitted, only. LCA Spirit Wear sweatshirts may be worn to school, but may NOT be worn during class time. Formal Uniform - Shoes: Only low heeled, flat soled, low cut shoes are allowed. Socks/hosiery must be worn and shoes with straps or laces must be tied. Shoes must be solid colored brown or black. Boot-type or athletic footwear such as work boots, hiking boots, sneakers, sneaker-like or bowling shoes, sandals, platforms or clogs are not allowed. High heeled, bulky, and/or oversized shoes pose a safety threat to students and will not be permitted. Gym Uniform: Gym uniform must have the LCA school logo: gray sweatpants and sweatshirt with school logo, burgundy t- shirt with the school logo, gray jersey or mesh shorts with the school logo. Sneakers are part of the gym uniform and must be worn for gym. Hair & Jewelry: Boys’ hair length is not to touch the shirt collar and must be above the eyebrows and ears. Any hairstyle (girls or boys) in which there is a noticeable difference in hair length or color is not permitted. Falling into this category would be any novelty haircut or style such as the "man-bun," colored hair tips, etc. Boys are not to wear earrings or studs. NO facial hair is allowed. Girls are permitted one pair of small earrings, but no large hoops or dangling earrings, due to safety concerns. Facial piercing is not allowed. Makeup and nail polish must be removed before coming to school. No more than one jewelry bracelet and no other types of bracelets may be worn in school. Youth Ministry

​

The goal of the LCA Youth Ministry is to help foster and develop the spiritual and faith lives of our students. Throughout the year, there are opportunities for students in the areas of service, prayer, and almsgiving. Below is a list of various activities that the LCA Youth Ministry has participated in and is responsible for:

  • Dinner Prep at Cor Unum

  • Serving Dinner at Cor Unum

  • Food Drive

  • Operation Rice Bowl

  • Rosary Prayer Group

  • School Liturgy Preparation

  • Faith Discussions

  • Morning & Afternoon School-Wide Prayer

Altar Servers

​

Students who have made their Baptism and First Communion may serve as altar servers. Students from any parish who are altar servers may serve as altar servers at school liturgies. Students at LCA are invited to become altar servers at St. Patrick's Church if they have been Baptized and made their First Communion.​

After School Tutoring
 

This year we have a brand new After School Tutoring Program. This is a free program that takes place after school. This is NOT homework help. This is a program designed to help your child fill in any gaps in their knowledge. Students are recommended by their teachers for this program and assigned to days/times for tutoring. This is for students in grades K-8.

Communications Club

​

Do you like to write? Take pictures? The Communications Club for grades 5-8 Communications Club gives LCA students a chance to improve their communication skills through different mediums. Students will learn the importance of communicating effectively and will even have a chance to write for our school newspaper and will be helping out with social media posts for LCA! Join us to start writing all about LCA!

Liturgical Choir


Students in grades 3-8 can become members of the liturgical choir. Our choir sings at our school liturgies as well as the children's Mass at St. Patrick Church on Sunday at 10:00 am.

Spelling Bee


Each year our school participates in the Merrimack Valley Regional Catholic Schools Spelling Bee held at Sacred Hearts School in Bradford, MA. One student from each grade in grades 1-8 will represent LCA as we compete against other Catholic schools in the Merrimack Valley. The Spelling Bee takes place in the Spring.

High School Placement Test Prep


In the beginning of the academic year, eighth grade students have the opportunity to participate in after school test prep classes to better prepare them for taking the high school entrance exams. These after school prep sessions typically last through November.

Prefects


Prefects serve as LCA's student leaders. They help bring new initiatives through the school and meet weekly with the Principal to discuss different ways to enhance life at LCA. 

​

Zumba

​

Zumba for students in grades 1-3 is a fun dance fitness party! Come join us while we dance to different types of music and learn about different cultures through fun dance moves! We will have fun, laugh and smile while learning how to move and shake our bodies to the beat!

​

Man Town

​

Man Town is for boys in grades 5-8 who want to learn proper etiquette and leadership skills. The club will help students learn about table manners, how to make a great first impression, and what morals and values make a man truly great. The club will also teach basic life skills to promote independence, such as tying a tie, in a fun and warm environment.

​

Girls, Inc.

​

Girls in Grades 7 and 8 can participate in Media Smarts, the Fall offering from Girls, Inc.! Teaching online safety, how to make good decisions and how to be a leader, our Girls, Inc. program is a fantastic resource for our girls!

​Chess Club


Chess is a game of strategy and thinking ahead. If you are a student in grades 2-8, join the Chess Club and learn how to play or come improve your game as you work to be the King or Queen of the Chess Club!

Craft Club

 

Students in grades 1 and 2 will be able to come to Craft Club and participate in making different fun crafts! We will be painting, drawing and creating different seasonal crafts!

The Garden Club

​

Students in grades 3-5 can join Mrs. Strunk in learning about plants, pollinators, and gardening. Activities will be STEM based, arts and crafts and hands on activities will make up most of the sessions.

​

Girls on the Run

​

Girls in Grades 3-5 can participate in this fabulous activity. Running twice a week and character building lessons are all incorporated into this after school club. The finale to this club is a 5K that participants run with a buddy with all the other girls who have been participating all Fall!

Drama Club


Drama club, for grades 5-8, is a great way to engage in performance as a group. During our first term we will be working on theater games, acting techniques, dancing, singing and preparing for our Nativity play.


Basketball


LCA is a member of the Merrimack Valley Catholic Basketball League. We have teams for boys and girls in grades 5, 6, 7 and 8. Teams practice at least once a week and have games either on Friday or Saturday of each week.

Creative Writing Club

​

Creative Writing Club for grades 5-8 is a great way for students to explore their creativity through words. We will be working on stories, playwriting, poetry and more while offering help and feedback to each other by sharing our work. Each week students will be able to work on longer projects or experiment with new styles and writing prompts.

​

Dungeons and Dragons Club

​

In Dungeons and Dragons Club (D&D), we will work first on teamwork as a core concept. We will also do some writing, acting, math, socialization and vocal storytelling. Open to students in grades 6-8, we meet on Mondays!

Meal Program

Meal Program

Lawrence Catholic Academy offers a free breakfast and lunch to all of its students. We are part of the Community Eligibility Provision. The Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) is a provision from the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010 that allows schools to provide free breakfast and lunch to all students. A cold breakfast option is available for students when the school day begins. All lunches include milk. Hot lunches include: milk, fruit, vegetable and dessert. Bag lunches include: sandwich, milk, fruit, chips, cheese stick, and dessert. Students may opt out of taking a breakfast in the morning and may bring their own lunches from home if they’d like. ​However, all LCA students have the option of a free breakfast and lunch everyday! Offers Meals at No Cost for Students Lawrence Catholic Academy will be participating in the National School Lunch Program and the School Breakfast Program. As part of this program, all schools will offer healthy meals every school day at NO COST to the students due to the implementation of the Community Eligibility Provision for school year 2023-2024. Students will be able to get breakfast and lunch at school without having to pay a fee or submit a household application.
